Other factors to consider include the importance of cage sanitation. Birds are somewhat messy and it requires time to clean their cage and water bowl daily. Their dietary needs are varied and feeding them requires attention to detail. Feeding seed as the sole item can predispose them to nutritional inadequacies and increase the chances of illness.
Ideally, providing mental stimulation is important. Both environmental and foraging enrichment can keep them mentally alert and interactive. Lastly, two birds are better than one so that they have each other when you're not home.
Birds can be wonderfully unique and interactive pets. They'll give you so much pleasure in return for your love.
