From Me to You...
We are fortunate to have national marketing and communications expert, Mark Stubis, write the column with suggestions for success in these economically challenging times. Each month we will give away a banner ad to a business who emails me at: SMStarNewspaper@aol.com to be entered in a random drawing. The winner will be contacted by the 15th of the month before his/her ad is to run. Click here to read Mark’s column on Making Your Business Shine!
As you may know, Santa Monica Place plans to reopen on August 6. Over 100 mannequins were handed out in the spring to artists, organizations, businesses, and retail stores to decorate for this opening. The Santa Monica Star had a devoted design team headlined by Aimee Handal, Claudia Luera, and Kalina Silverman who spent many hours working with me on our entry. Many others consulted with us. I will write more about them next month with a photo of our mannequin.
Special thanks to them all, and to Cathy Jahnke who was in charge of the contest. She graciously answered my questions and is to be commended for all she does in putting this entire event together. We’ll see the results as we explore the “new” shopping center this month.
I was blessed this summer to work with Kalina Silverman, a talented intern from Santa Monica High School. Her input is greatly appreciated.
The Main Public Library on Santa Monica Bl. and 6th St. is one of my favorite places. Under the guidance of Susan Annett, the staff is always willing to patiently answer questions. Last month I saw Margie Delano from Fromin’s there with her grandchildren. It was also a delightful surprise to run into Pati LaPerl, a former columnist on seniors in my first local newspaper, On Montana, at the library restaurant. Usually I see her at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast in September. She looks great and is still as active as ever in our community.
Count your blessings and enjoy the great weather and beautiful gardens we have in Santa Monica. Until next month...
