Jeff Condon:
The Man Behind The Desk
By Oren Friedman
Nowadays, too many lawyers embody the uptight and stereotypical East Coast attitude. Suits everyday and gigantic bureaucracies have become the paradigm for practicing law in this country.
Then there’s Jeff Condon who embodies the laid back Santa Monica lifestyle; he is self-employed and wears jeans to work. In many respects, the author, proud parent of three, passionate reader (his favorites include Hesse’s Siddhartha and Milton’s Paradise Lost), and avid swimmer is representative of our cozy, yet hard-working, city’s attitude. |
Condon’s diligence begins early in the morning, before most of us are awake. “I swim 3,000 meters every morning. Today I was in the pool at 5:30. I can’t function if I don’t feel good, and I feel good after a swim, even a bad swim,” said Condon. “I don’t have a lot of materialistic desires. If I get my morning swim in, that’s all I need.”
As a member of Southern California Aquatics, a racer in many swim meets, and a past Santa Monica High School Viking water polo player and swimmer, Condon’s work ethic in the pool has undoubtedly contributed to his success in the office. He runs the Law Firm Condon and Condon on 7th Street and Arizona. On his interests of practicing law Condon commented: “I know this sounds trite and cliché, but I do enjoy helping people at the time they need the most help.” His work has transcended modern law as he authored the best selling Beyond the Grave: the Right Way and Wrong Way of Leaving Money to Your Children (And Others) and The Living Trust Advisor. Beyond the Grave has received unprecedented acclaim for its guidance in the inheritance arena. “We were on Oprah because it was such a unique angle, and we got a lot of business for that, too.”
Outside of the office Condon is a food aficionado and cites Thai Dishes as a favorite Santa Monica eatery. Other than that, he enjoys helping to coach softball and loves to spend time with his three children Bradley, Hayley, and Carly.
